Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Tool Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our F-35 Program organization. This leadership role is located in Palmdale, CA.
The Manager Tool Engineering 2 will be responsible for supervising employees involved in the design of a wide range of tooling components including molds, lifting devices, handling fixtures, assembly fixtures, etc. They will oversee the building of jigs and fixtures inhouse or offsite. In this role, the chosen candidate will support long-range plans and strategies to provide the most affordable Tooling products and services in the industry which will include the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Manager will lead and provide oversight and guidance to the management team to ensure program objectives specific to quality, cost, schedule, and customer satisfaction targets are achieved.
The Tooling engineering manager will be responsible for the supporting long-range plans and strategies to provide the most affordable Tooling solutions and services to the program.
Identify and develop staffing/skills requirements, forecasts, and training plans for current and future requirements.
Manager will have Cost Account Manager (CAM) responsibility to program activities and will ensure compliance to EVMS for all direct & indirect budgets.
Responsible to identify capital asset needs and strategies to build and maintain a sustainable Assembly line.
Responsible to collaborate with other Aeronautics Systems Sector Tooling Management teams to develop consistent process and procedures to help drive affordability and insure the deployment of best practices across the sector.
Must be able to support any shift.
Manager must be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and work platforms.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of professional experience in tooling, manufacturing/operations, assembly lines, and/or implementing technology into a production environment OR a Master’s degree and 3 years of professional experience in tooling, manufacturing/operations, assembly lines, and/or implementing technology into a production environment
5 years of Engineering experience in a manufacturing/high production environment.
Must have 2 years of prior management/leadership experience.
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain PAR (Special Program Access)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Previous Supervisory and Management experience in managing large projects, with an emphasis on tooling, manufacturing, assembly lines, and implementing technology into a production environment.
Proficient in Tool Design, Machining, Fabrication and Metrology techniques/skills
Aerospace or Aviation Industry experience managing tool fabrication organizations & tool fabrication shops, & material procurement
Salary Range: $142,200 - $213,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
