We proudly promote a diverse workforce with an inclusive culture that encourages creativity and a positive team environment.Job Summary:The Vessel Engineer is responsible for maintenance and upkeep as they operate, repair, and maintain the various systems aboard the vessel. The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain the mechanical propulsion systems of the vessel according to the directions of the commanding officer including the engines, pumps, boilers, and generators. Additional responsibilities include maintaining electrical, refrigeration, ventilation and heating/cooling systems. Vessel Engineers record information for engineering logs, such as speed and direction change orders and gauge readings. This position works a 28 days on, 14 days off, rotation.What you’ll get:•8 paid holidays.•Paid time off.•Health, dental, vision and supplemental benefits.•Expanded medical services program.•Wellness program.•Life insurance.•401(K) matching.•Employee Discounts.•Referral Bonuses.What you'll do:•Assure safe crew, vessel, and tow operations by promoting, practicing, and enforcing TVT’s safety systems which includes audits, drills, investigations, contacts, and safety logs.•Assure safe vessel operations through regular monitoring and servicing of vessel systems (i.e., engines, steering, electrical, etc.).•Assure Engine Room housekeeping through regular cleaning, painting, and maintenance.•Transfer fuels, lubricants, and bilge from fuel flats in accordance with established procedures.•Maintain logs of engine hours, fuel transfers, and other maintenance activities.•Conduct repairs to vessel engines, generators, and other vessel systems as required.•Comply with and enforce United States Coast Guard (USCG) & environmental regulations, and •Company policies and procedures.What you'll need:•Prior experience as an engineer on a towboat.•Possess a valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).•Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools.•Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and piping diagrams.•Ability to read and understand various meters and gauges associated with large diesel engines.•Ability to return to a vessel during scheduled time off if an emergency arises.•Leadership skills to facilitate an environment onboard the vessel and among crew members that promotes teamwork and diversity.Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
