As an European Patent Attorney you will join our growing IP team and this position plays a crucial role in all activities needed to secure the Group’s IP/patent rights, including providing guidance and support for IP matters arising from global Research & Development projects, Oppositions and other contested matters, due diligence, and transactional matters. You will report directly to the VP, Global Head of IP and this is an excellent opportunity for a talented attorney looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and innovative healthcare-focused organization.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform prior art investigations and patentability assessments.

  • Drafting and prosecution of patent applications.

  • Provide infringement and validity advice.

  • Monitoring and assessment of third-party patents.

  • Performing due diligence in support of the Group’s activities.

  • Provide support to opposition and litigation proceedings.

  • Instruction of outside counsel on IP matters on behalf of the Group.

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, and practices that comply with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Conduct training sessions and provide educational resources to employees and managers on IP matters to promote IP awareness and compliance within the organization.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Fully qualified European Patent Attorney with a background in an Engineering discipline – biomedical, mechanical, electrical, or related.

  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience as a European Patent Attorney preferably in Med-Tech, healthcare or a related industry, acquired in an IP law firm or in-house IP department.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and group presentation skills.

  • Proven ability to provide strategic legal advice and counsel to global business partners within varied functions and global business units.

  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior.
