Guthrie Polysomnographic Tech - Mobile Sleep Lab - Per Diem in PA, United States

Position Summary: Conducts nocturnal and diurnal sleep studies to include monitoring of EEG, EOG, EKG, and EMG, nasal/oral ventilation, chest excursion and pulse oximetry. Assists in scoring sleep studies interpreting polygraphic recordings. Tests are performed on children, adults, and geriatric patients.

Education, License & Cert: High school diploma or GED required, CPR certified.

Experience: Experience in clinical field working directly with patients is preferred. Exposure and understanding of basic computer skills.

Essential Functions: 1. Scores sleep stages, arousals, PLMS, respiratory events and other physiological data to established standards. 2. Knowledge in PC operations related to, but not limited to, the operation of equipment, attaching interfaces, acquisition, storage and retrieval of data. 3. Reviews current literature for sleep disorders and keeps current on new techniques and advanced in the field. 4. Applies EEG electrodes utilizing the standard 10‐20 system. 5. Produces artifact‐free ploysomnographic data to standard criteria. 6. Monitors patient response to CPAP while establishing optimum pressures necessary to maintain an airway. 7. Determines the proper mask size and headgear to insure proper fit and comfort. 8. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to learn how to operate and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment.

Other Duties: 1. Keeps current of equipment repairs, cleanliness, condition, and needed supplies. 2. Files records, completes and forwards appropriate billing in formation. Able to communicate well with patients. 3. Educating patients about CPAP machines and how to use them.
