Job Description Summary
To assist the head coach of the men's & women's swimming & diving program in the administration and operation of the diving program consistent with the policies of Miami University, the NCAA, and other appropriate governing bodies (i.e. Mid-American Conference, Missouri Valley Conference).
Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist the head coach of men's and women's swimming in planning, organizing and directing all activities involved with a Division I diving program to include:
Recruiting in accordance with university policies and procedures the potential men and women divers who can successfully compete on the Division I level
Recommends divers for financial assistance
Organizing and administering a year-round diving program
Schedules diving practices as appropriate
Assisting with all home meets and administering the diving competition during these meets
Assuring the maintenance and upkeep of the diving equipment
Encouraging and monitoring the academic progress of divers
Develop a seasonal and weekly plan for conditioning, skill development, and competition lists
Coordinate dryland and strength training program with our Miami strength staff
Oversee the budget of the diving program in cooperation with the head coach to include ordering of equipment, planning the competitions at Regionals and Nationals, planning winter training sessions and competitions, and projecting recruiting and financial aid expenditures
Assisting with the development and maintenance of competitive schedules that comply with NCAA, MAC & MVC rules
Maintaining knowledge and ensure compliance with NCAA, MAC, MVC and University rules and regulations
Participating in departmental activities to include community service and attendance at all scheduled meetings
Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach and athletic administration
This position specifically supports the mission of the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting in institutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Knowledge of the rules and policies of the NCAA
Experience coaching at the college level, club level or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
Knowledge of Teamworks/ARMS software platform for NCAA documentation
