Manufacturing Engineer
Reports to: Mfg Eng Manager Department: Manufacturing Engineering
Job Summary:
Defines, researches, develops, implements, and sustains safe, cost-effective manufacturing equipment, processes, and methods. Use sound Engineering and Project Management principles, methods, and tools, aligned with customer requirements, product specifications, and quality standards. Lead and facilitate new or modified equipment, machinery, and continuous improvement projects. Provide recommendations on safety, manufacturability, and product quality. Continual focus on safety, quality, and productivity; Lean mindset.
Essential Functions:
1) Communicates effectively with internal and external customers responding promptly to their inquiries meeting deadlines as scheduled.
2) Leads projects and interfaces with Operations, Product Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse personnel during the development, implementation, and follow-up phases of the project.
3) Develop and document new machinery, equipment, and automation equipment specifications.
4) Analyzes team member requests for changes in methods of manufacture to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Costs, and best fit for existing equipment.
5) Recommends and develops Manufacturing methodologies that result in improved value to our customers through waste reductions, reduced cycle times, and increased product quality.
6) Champions the creation and modification of work instructions in assigned areas for use by others in the organization to perform their work.
7) Performs analysis for cost reductions, quality improvements, and improved efficiencies.
8) Performs root-cause analysis and troubleshooting as required.
9) Performs time studies and create standards.
10) Modify and create new routings.
Additional Responsibilities:
1) Supports the Safety Committee as needed.
2) Shared responsibility to maintain AutoCAD drawings of the facility, processes, and equipment with proper revision control.
3) Shared responsibility to maintain and improve General Equipment and Machinery Specifications.
4) Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1) Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
2) The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
3) Strong work ethic, ability to work independently both as a team member and a leader.
4) Highly motivated, self-starter.
5) Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
6) The ability to work under pressure.
7) Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layouts, assembly, machining, and tooling.
8) Good problem-solving skills and a creative approach for new ideas
9) Quality oriented with attention to detail.
10) A high level of computer literacy, AutoCAD and MS Office Applications.
