Saint-Gobain Controls Engineer in OXFORD, North Carolina
The Controls Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing engineering solutions for plant operations, quality, processing and logistics teams; managing projects, ensuring safe operations for employees and contractors.- This position is the plant’s support person for automation, sensors, PLC’s, HMI’s, drives, servos, historian and industrial networks – ProfiBus and Ethernet I/P.
Possess the skills knowledge and abilities to program PLC’s (primarily Allen Bradley). The Controls Engineer diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. The Controls Engineer will be on call for one week every 5-6 weeks.- Responsible for observing and following all safety regulations with required PPE.
Areas of responsibility include the design or development of new process control systems or revision of existing processes; using data collection tools including MES and WonderWare Historian to identify projects which contribute to plant profitability; assist with preparing programs for industrial control systems
External contacts include consultants and suppliers to determine the compatibility of other systems, products and personnel as they may apply to industrial control systems.
Prepares data sheets, diagrams and flow charts needed for the correct and efficient operation of the plant equipment.
Develops and maintains standard operating procedures and work instructions.
Uses PLC / Controls tools to reduce process variations.
Analyzes operating problems, develops solutions and leads with implementation of corrective action.
Receives and collects, interprets and extrapolates data from the production process to monitor current performances against established baselines.
Makes recommendations to improve efficiencies.
Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and program PLC’s, drives and operator interfaces – Allen Bradley, WonderWare, CTI and Siemens drives.

Four-year technical degree preferred or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
5 or more years of progressive designing and commissioning control systems.
Plant manufacturing experience preferred.
Proven PLC programming experience(primarily Allen Bradley and CTI).
Project management experience.
