JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Director for Advising and Programming is a pivotal role supporting the Goizueta at Oxford program. This position bridges Oxford College and the Goizueta Business School, offering the chance to shape transformative student experiences at the intersection of liberal arts and business education. This position reports to both Oxford College Academic Affairs as well as the Goizueta Business School BBA Program Office. Time will be spent regularly at both schools, with a primary office and event base at Oxford College.
Working in collaboration with the BBA Program Office, Oxford College Academic Affairs, and the Center for Pathways and Purpose, the Assistant Director leads advising, program development, and community-building efforts. This role is ideal for a student-focused professional passionate about academic advising, program innovation, and fostering meaningful connections for students.
Program Leadership & Coordination:
Plans and executes educational events and programs focused on business career exploration, professional development, and networking.
Oversees event logistics, including scheduling, catering, and transportation, in partnership with key campus offices.
Academic Advising:
Provides academic guidance on Oxford's general education requirements and the Goizueta BBA major/Emory College business minor.
Uses advising platforms and data analytics to support student success initiatives.
Collaboration & Communication:
Serves as the primary liaison between Oxford College and Goizueta Business School, representing the program on various committees.
Collaborates with faculty, staff, and administrators to enhance student support.
Student Support & Development:
Offers holistic advising by integrating academic, co-curricular, and personal development resources.
Addresses academic concerns, provides referrals to campus resources, and fosters equity and inclusion in programming.
Professional Engagement:
Participates in faculty training sessions, represents the program at admissions events, and builds partnerships across Emory University.
Stays informed on best practices in academic advising and student development.
Operational Excellence:
Maintains accurate records and generate reports to inform decision-making.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree in counseling, higher education administration, or a related field, and one year of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Up to three years of experience is preferred.
Preferred candidate will have experience working with college students from diverse backgrounds and familiarity with student advising and programming
Previous experience at a selective institution is particularly valued.
Successful candidates will enjoy working directly with students and have a significant interest in student development and growth.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location, primarily Oxford College with one day each week at the Goizueta Business School. Occasional evening and weekend work required. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
