We are currently looking for an Accounting Supervisor II to work in our Owensboro, KY location.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
General Accounting Supervisor will oversee daily accounting activities and the various functions performed by the General Accounting team.
The functions of the General Accounting team are as follows:
accounts receivables and invoicing
monthly closing process for a very broad base of accounting matters (debt, benefits, leases, regulatory as well as the preparation or approval of journal entries, development of variance explanations, and completion of account reconciliations for GAAP and FERC
ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles
ensure that accounting staff are following all guidelines within SOX 404 compliance and that any changes are correctly reported to the Internal Audit Department
ensure timely and accurate month-end accounting close
corporate credit card administration and employee expense reporting administration, including audit
customer and supplier maintenance
regulatory reporting, such as 1099, FERC reporting and Texas Railroad regulatory reporting
system maintenance
work with the IT department to ensure that accounting systems are properly recording all financial data
continuous improvements
ad hoc reports, financial analyses, and participate in special projects

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Accounting, Finance degree
8-12 years accounting experience
2+ years of supervisory/project experience
Exhibits professional and leadership qualities
Strong understanding of the financial close process and monthly/quarterly cycles
Strong cross-functional communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong organization skills
Strong computer skills (MS Office)
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Energy experience
Oracle experience
Working knowledge in benefit accounting, lease accounting
System implementation experience
Advanced Excel experience
Experience in any of the duties performed in General Accounting
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Accounting or Finance Degree
