Actalent Mechanical Designer/drafter in Oviedo, Florida

Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Job Description

Create shop drawings for custom commercial kitchen equipment, including floor plans, elevations, and any other specifications provided. Solid modeling is required, and experience in sheet metal is a must Design custom stainless steel equipment that meets specific customer and industry requirements. Manage large assemblies consisting of sheet metal parts, sub-assemblies, hardware, and imported files. Help to establish better modeling skills, software training, and ways of improvement for other Design Engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Create shop drawings for custom equipment, including floor plans, elevations, and other specifications provided.

  • Design and draft complex parts and assemblies with mechanical design/integration skills.

  • Manage large CAD assemblies and associated drawings.

  • Familiar with a PDM Product Management Database.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics per product per project.

  • Solid 3D-modeling using Siemens SolidEdge for sheet metal.

  • Design CAD models per customer specifications and order sheet.

  • Work with Project Managers to deliver requested drafts for customer review.

  • Simultaneously work on multiple projects and project managers, prioritizing deadlines.

  • Procure products, create DXF drawings for a laser cutter and bends, and draft electrical drawings.

  • Troubleshoot and adapt model files from CAD library to meet customer specifications.

  • Apply knowledge of GD&T for manufacturing sheet metal.

Essential Skills

  • Solid modeling experience.

  • Sheet metal.

  • Proficiency in Siemens SolidEdge or SolidWorks.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

  • Experience with CAD assemblies and associated drawings.

  • Knowledge of PDM Product Management Database.

  • Understanding of GD&T for sheet metal manufacturing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Food service experience is preferable.

  • Experience in interpreting and manipulating existing drawings.

  • Ability to read specifications and design custom stainless steel equipment.

Work Environment

The team sits in a quad of cubicles with one lead in each quad, and there are five quads in total. The engineering team consists of 25 engineers, including Mechanical Engineers and Drafters, who report to the Director of Engineering

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
