Ottumwa Community School District Credit Recovery, Gateway High School in Ottumwa, Iowa

Position Purpose: Briefly explain the general purpose of the position. This statement should be a general summary of the essential functions listed in the next section.

Work with students and families to promote academic success and plan for post secondary transition.

Essential Functions: Describe position responsibilities and duties. Use separate statement for each responsibility. Each position should have 5-9 major responsibility areas and less important duties can be combined into one larger responsibility. Final responsibility should be “any other duties as assigned.”

  • Provide continual communication between, students, families, teachers, and administration regarding academic and attendance issues.

  • Provide families with information and resources to improve academic success.

  • Monitor academic status of credit recovery students.

  • Collaboratively work with community support services.

  • Develop student organization, study skills, and work completion habits.

  • Conference with students regarding attendance and grades.

  • Participate in Student Assistance Team meetings.

  • Participate in training of PLATO with provider.

  • Develop and share quarterly progress reports on program’s success.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications: These are the minimum requirements in education, experience, and skills for this position. Education includes formal education, certifications, accreditations, etc. Skills include applied knowledge and technical skills directly related to this position.

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with student, staff, and parents.

  • Ability to work one on one with student in various academic core areas.

  • Must have valid secondary Iowa teaching endorsement.

  • Successful teaching experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of PLATO online learning system.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

  • $20.75 hours a day
