Your role

The program sector of the Ottawa-Gatineau regional station is looking for a radio host to be assigned to the show "Sur le vif," airing weekdays from 3 P.M. to 6 P.M.

Curious, creative, and innovative, you will host a daily news and service program for the Ottawa and Gatineau regions. Under the supervision of the producer, you will prepare content to be presented live on air or pre-recorded. You must implement strategies to reach our audiences and engage with them.

Your editorial judgment and deep understanding of journalistic standards and practices will enable you to contribute to content preparation. You will propose topics for interviews and reports. In collaboration with the team, you will prepare outlines for interviews. You will also be responsible for research and contacting potential guests for the show. You will edit audio segments. Your digital personality will help highlight content online. You will represent Radio-Canada at certain networking events to build connections with the community.

You demonstrate flexibility and good adaptability, and you have a team spirit. You can collaborate in a newsroom and with colleagues from other shows.

You embody and promote values of inclusion and respect in the workplace. You are familiar with the population, communities, and culture of the National Capital Region, Outaouais, and Eastern Ontario.

The work is governed by Radio-Canada's policies, standards, and practices regarding journalism and programming.

This is a permanent full-time position. The selected candidate may be required to work overtime, and the schedule may change based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Propose topics for show content and work collaboratively to ensure production.

  • Determine the style, angle, composition, and format of audio content.

  • Prepare interview outlines.

  • Conduct research and contact potential guests.

  • Participate in production meetings for the show.

  • Contribute to the production of digital content.

  • Design and develop ideas and concepts, and participate in setting objectives.

  • Take part in coverage plans and deployments.

Desired Profile:

  • University degree or equivalent

  • Five (5) years of experience, including three (3) in a related field directly tied to the position

  • Deep knowledge of radio

  • Excellent mastery of digital writing standards and conventions, with strong writing and editing skills

  • Relevant experience in content production

  • Knowledge of Radio-Canada's mandate and journalistic standards and practices

  • Excellent understanding of the issues in the Ottawa-Gatineau region

  • Familiarity with cultural and social events and issues in Outaouais and Eastern Ontario, with a strong interest in them

  • Commitment to reflecting community and diversity

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines

  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Resourcefulness and initiative

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure

  • Excellent editorial judgment

  • Proficiency in written and spoken French

  • Very good knowledge of English
