A day in the life:
The Transportation Planning and Science department offers planning and engineering services for a full spectrum of transportation projects serving both public and private-sector clients. For the role of the Transportation Planning and Science Student, WSP is seeking to hire a candidate in the engineering, planning, and/or design field to support with a range of projects including multimodal transportation master plans, traffic signal operation/coordination studies, pedestrian and cycling planning, functional design studies, transit planning, parking studies, and transportation impact studies for residential, commercial, and institutional developments. We provide students in the engineering, planning, and design fields with an exciting opportunity to work for one of the leading consulting firms while gaining a wide range of experience in the transportation field.
The successful candidate would:
Participate in day-to-day project activities such as background research, roadway and active transportation design, modelling, data analysis, and report writing;
Assist with the preparation of traffic engineering and planning studies;
Assist in proposal preparation;
Coordinate with project team members;
Provide support to the department with developing project work programs/budgets and schedules in response to clients’ needs;
Occasionally participate in site visits or traffic data collection activities; and
Other duties as assigned.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
An excellent academic record;
Excellent technical, analytical, writing, and presentation skills;
Effective time management skills as you will be working on various projects supporting different teams;
Creativity / Outside the box thinking;
MS Office and computer skills (i.e. GIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite) will set you apart from your peer group;
Have shown leadership skills by participating in extra-curricular events and volunteer work;
Strong interest in transportation;
Able to travel in and around the National Capital Region (NCR) for occasional site visits;
Knowledge in transportation modelling software (Synchro, Vissim) would be an asset; and
Having a valid G/G2 driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be an asset.
