Oshkosh Corporation Mechanical Engineer Intern (Summer 2025) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin

Assist a variety of engineers (design, production, manufacturing, industrial, test, etc.) with multiple tasks involving the mechanical engineering functions.

AS A MECHANICAL ENGINEER INTERN, YOU MAY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO...

  • Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software i.e., CATIA (Corporate, Defense, & Pierce), or PRO/E (JLG).

  • Select parts or components for quality conscious design, i.e., weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing.

  • Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.

  • Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.

  • Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.

  • Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.

  • Create and manage ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) using the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system.

  • Design, model and test new mechanical systems that integrate with a vehicle.

  • Update bill of materials in the PDM (Product Data Management) system to reflect product changes.

  • All other duties or projects as assigned.

*Job duties will vary depending on business unit and location of internship.

If working in the Test & Development area, some responsibilities may include:

  • Establish requirements for testing of heavy-duty vehicles and associated equipment.

  • Create test plans, recommend resources of equipment necessary to accomplish the test, and formulate test project estimates.

  • Conceive necessary fixtures and test apparatus and supervise their construction and development.

  • Coordinate, supervise, and monitor testing, record test data.

  • Recommend corrective actions needed to achieve reliability and performance, and maintain schedule and cost targets.

  • Communicate status and results of tests to internal departments, suppliers, and customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field throughout entire duration of the internship.

  • Graduation date of December 2025 or later.

  • Willing to travel or relocate to Oshkosh, WI for the Summer of 2025 (relocation assistance provided for those with a permanent address of greater than 50 miles from Oshkosh, WI).

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements.

  • Previous internship experience or work-related experience.

  • Experience using CATIA, Pro-E or a similar CAD system is a plus.

  • Previous experience or heightened interest in mechanical design.

Pay Range:

$18.00 - $37.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
