Actalent Medical Laboratory Technician in Osceola, Wisconsin

Job Title: Medical Laboratory TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist to join our hospital lab team. This position requires an experienced lab technician to provide support for at least the next 6 months. Schedules will typically be planned 6 weeks in advance. The role involves specimen collection, receiving, analysis, and reporting of patient results. You will also serve as a consultant to providers for test selection and use, and may be assigned lead operator roles within sections of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, receive, analyze, and report patient specimen results.

  • Consult with providers for test selection and usage.

  • Perform phlebotomy (250+ draws) and blood banking.

  • Conduct urinalysis tests.

  • Perform lab microbiology tasks.

  • May serve as lead operator within sections of the laboratory.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Biological Sciences (minimum Associate's).

  • ASCP Certification.

  • 2+ years of experience in a laboratory setting.

  • Ability to perform phlebotomy (250+ draws) and blood banking.

  • Ability to perform urinalysis.

  • Experience with lab microbiology.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in hematology.

  • Knowledge of PCR techniques.

  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques.

  • Experience with EMR, EHR, and LIS systems.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Thursday from noon to 8:30 pm, and Friday from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, with no weekend shifts. The lab team consists of 8-12 technicians working on any given day. The lab handles a wide array of testing and responsibilities, and uses advanced Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
