How will you make an impact in this role?
The Colleague & Labor Relations (“CLR”) Specialist (also referred to as the Employee & Labor Relations Specialist) will be a member of the Japan Colleague Experience Group (“CEG” , formerly Human Resources) and will be responsible for Japan and Korea championing solutions that drive a fair and consistent colleague experience, support the business, and minimize legal exposure.While demonstrating the American Express Leadership Behaviours and Blue Box Values, this individual will:
Continuously seek opportunities to deliver the highest quality employment and labour relations solutions
Drive proactive, data-driven trend identification and solutions to support CEG and business strategies
Establish and maintain strong risk, control, privacy and audit practices across all processes, programs and partners
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout American Express including Colleague Strategic Partners (formerly HR Business Partners), Compliance, Safety, Security, Internal Audit, Health and Wellness and the General Counsel’s OrganizationGeneral Responsibilities:
End-to-end management of complex employment relations cases (performance management, disciplinary procedures, grievance investigations) and tracking through the global case management tool
Provide support to new business initiatives including process guidance for consultation and documentation support
Provide CLR specialist advice to the CEG team in different areas of their roles
Support the implementation of global organizational change initiatives or projects to drive efficiency and add CLR value
Deliver CLR training to leaders and employees to identify opportunities to reduce labor risk and research and develop strategic initiatives to mitigate it
Review and update CEG policies and procedures
Respond to CEG/CLR enquiries escalated from the American Express Colleague Service Center
Minimum Qualifications
3 years of progressive HR experience with concentration in Employee & Labor Relations
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related discipline
A solid understanding of the Labor Code of the Japan (Korea) and labor-related regulations
Prior knowledge and experience in conducting sensitive investigations
Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated drive for results
Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to cascade complex messages in simple form
Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence leaders and colleagues at all levels, challenge the status quo, confront difficult issues and demonstrate a high degree of comfort with ambiguity
High resilience from high stress situations
High degree of Objectively
Fluent Japanese and English language skills
Intermediate or above IT literacy
Preferred Qualifications
