NBC Universal Sr. Project Manager, Tech Services – Global Attraction Programs in Orlando, Florida

Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. JOB SUMMARY:

Organize and establish effective Project management, coordinate and manage design decisions and construction document production; avoid contract claims and disputes; minimize change orders during construction phases; establish strategic financial strategies; establish and maintain Capital cash flow reporting; establish tax strategies for the Capital program. Effectively manage changes in the Project; eliminate interface disruptions between project participants; maintain, and where possible improve the Project schedule and budget; insure quality design and construction work; emphasize “hands-on” management of field operations; maintain operational use of completed facilities during continuation of construction; establish and maintain a competent and experienced staff; implement efficient and timely document control.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines and validates requests for Capital Funding. Collects

Validated requests and works with the Senior Manager and the Senior Vice President to prioritize the requests. Prepare and Capital project presentation and present to the CFO and the COO in conjunction with the Senior Manager and the Senior Vice President.

  • Work with the Senior Manager to develop a schedule for the fiscal year’s Capital and Expense Program. Once the schedule is developed, prepare a Capital Cash Flow spreadsheet and submit to Finance.

  • Work with the Senior Manager and the Senior Vice President to determine long range strategic Capital Programs including but, not limited to: multi-year programs; obsolescence programs; operational improvement programs; Guest Safety Programs; Reliability Centered Maintenance Programs; and Resorts Interface Programs. With these strategies established, work with the Chief Financial Officer to develop Financial Strategies that will support the Technical Services Capital Strategies.

  • Preparation of Construction Documents. These documents include but are not limited to Construction Drawings (CD), Construction Specifications, Scopes of Work, and General Conditions.

  • Completes bidding & awarding the Construction Documents. This includes but is not limited to developing a bidders list and preparing a Request For Procurement (RFP). The RFP includes instructions for the bid, bid response forms, Construction Agreement, General Conditions, Scope of Work, Drawings, Wage and Equipment Rates, Schedule of Unit Prices, Payment and Performance Bonds, General Requirements, Environmental Health & Safety Requirements, Specifications, Questions and Answers, and Addendums.

  • Performs administration of Construction and Design Contracts. This includes but is not limited to evaluation of Contractors technical performance and adherence to the contract requirements, which includes all aspects of the project. It also includes management of the submittal, Request For Information (RFI), modification documents (MOD DOCS), and the directive process.

  • Monitors change or delays to the construction schedule. This includes but is not limited to the evaluation of Contractors schedule performance and schedule coordination with other groups and departments. Weekly three (3) week look ahead updates and monthly overall updates are reviewed and recovery plans are developed if schedule variances evolve.

  • Monitors quality assurance of Project. This includes but is not limited to daily walks through the facility to monitor progress and developments to ensure that the work being accomplished is in accordance with the contract documents. Numerous questions and clarifications evolve from these reviews and need to be documented and resolved.

  • Prepares progress reports. This includes but is no limited to monthly status and progress reports to the Project Director. These reports feed into the overall attraction monthly update presented to senior management.

  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsible for program development, project management, and strategic financial strategies for the division.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Degree or GED is required.

  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school is required.

  • Bachelor of Science in is preferred.

    EXPERIENCE:

  • 7-10 Years: Experience working in theme park and resort projects; also experience dealing with large scale construction projects along or with experience in working carious positions with a general contractor dealing with estimating, budgeting, bidding, field experience dealing with all aspects of projects required.
