WSP is currently initiating a search for a Remote or Office Based Emergency Manager for our Emergency Management Practice. This position could work out of Raleigh, NC; Columbia, SC; Orlando, FL; or Richmond, VA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leading Emergency Management (preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery) projects, field operations, and emergency management staff

  • Performing in lead role in Emergency Operations Center and/or Field Staging Area operations prior to, during, and post disaster.

  • Lead Emergency Management strategic business development pursuits

  • Leading Strategic Initiatives within the Emergency Management Practice

  • Lead preparedness activities (including exercises) as well post-event activities (including After Action Reviews) for the Emergency Management team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or equivalent experience in the area of expertise; experience may be substituted for the required education

  • 7-15 years experience in Emergency/Disaster/Crisis management

  • Advanced knowledge of Emergency management principles, including but not limited to Emergency Preparedness, Mitigation, Response and Recovery operations

  • Proven leadership, staff supervision and management skills

  • Travel Required - Must be able to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the United State and its territories for an extended period of time.

  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening

  • This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or similar/related concentration

  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) registration

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) registration

  • Previous experience in government entities and/or military
