Job Summary:
The Director of Student Academic Support Services manages, supervises, and coordinates all activities, programs, and services provided by the University Tutoring Center, Nursing Tutoring Center, and Testing Center at AdventHealth University (AHU). The Director of Student Academic Support Services also actively coordinates and participates in the development, growth, and revision of the academic remediation process for various undergraduate and graduate professional programs at AHU. The Director of Student Academic Support Services provides outstanding customer service, works closely with support staff and faculty to promote the goals and objectives of all academic courses and programs, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
You Will Be Responsible For:
Demonstrates behaviors at AdventHealth University in harmony with AHU’s “Four Words” of Nurture, Excellence, Spirituality , and Stewardship as well as AdventHealth’s Performance Standards of “Keep Me Safe, Love Me, Make it Easy, and Own It.”
Managesand trains all coordinators, general education and nursing peers, and professional tutors and works with the University and Nursing Tutor Coordinators to maintain the tutoring database; communicates with the necessary academic departments regarding tutoring trends and other data as needed
Develops and initiates projects and resources that facilitate student learning skills and enhance the functions of the student academic support service centers
Examines the policies and procedures of the academic support service centers and recommends changes to save time, labor, and other costs and to improve quality control and operating efficiency
Works as a member of an office support team by assigning duties to direct reports, and evaluating team member performance
Participates in the research, strategic planning, implementation, and assessment of all programs, activities, and services provided by the student academic support service centers
Monitors and reviews records and reports pertaining to the student academic support service centers including usage, operation, and payrollMeets with students as needed and utilizes an Early Alert Program (EAP) framework to assist those who struggle academically by providing educational study skills resources and continued evaluation of academic progress and advancement
Qualifications
What Will You Need:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in education OR related discipline; and
Five(5) years of teaching, tutoring, and/or higher education or management experience in higher education.
Strong management and supervision skills that focus on employee and student development and performance management while promoting dedication, creativity, innovation, and growth
Ability to communicate and interact effectively and professionally with diverse populations, both verbally and written
Strong organizational skills
Ability to be self-motivated, meet deadlines, multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced working environment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
- Master’s degree in education or related discipline and three(3) years of teaching, tutoring, and/or management experience in higher education; demonstrated leadership and creative accomplishments in a student-support role at an institution of higher learning.
