Title Asphalt Plant Quality Control Technician                                                       Orlando FL or surrounding area

Jr. Davis Construction Company / S&L Materials Inc. is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic to fill the position of Asphalt Plant Quality Control Technician. The Asphalt Plant Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring that the asphalt production process meets quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves monitoring and testing materials, conducting inspections, and maintaining accurate records to guarantee the final product meets specifications.

We are one of the largest heavy highway and civil construction firms in the state with over 900 employees, while still retaining a family business atmosphere.

COMPENSATION: Based on experience. Our OJT (On the Job Training) will allow you to move up in our company as your skill set expands.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Quality Control and Testing:

  • Conduct routine tests on asphalt mixtures, aggregates, and other materials to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

  • Perform tests such as viscosity, density, gradation, and moisture content.

  • Analyze test results and make adjustments to production processes as needed.

  • Various other duties as needed.

     

  • Inspection and Monitoring:

  • Inspect raw materials and finished products for quality and consistency.

  • Monitor the asphalt production process to ensure adherence to established procedures and specifications.

  • Verify that equipment and machinery are functioning correctly and calibrate as necessary.

     

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of test results, production data, and quality control activities.

  • Prepare and submit reports on quality control findings and any deviations from standards.

  • Document and track corrective actions taken in response to quality issues.

     

  • Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to asphalt production and environmental standards.

  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to management immediately.

     

  • Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with plant operators, engineers, and management to address quality issues and implement improvements.

  • Provide guidance and training to plant personnel on quality control procedures and best practices.

    Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not necessary.

  • Experience: Previous experience in asphalt production, quality control, or a related field is desirable, but not necessary.

     

  • Skills:

  • Strong understanding of asphalt materials and production processes.

  • Proficiency in using testing equipment and software.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

     

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications may be required or preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and dust.

  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs.

  • Capability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.

    Working Conditions:

  • Primarily based at the asphalt plant site with occasional fieldwork.

  • Full time position with night and/or shift work.  Weekends as necessary.
