Intermountain Health MRI Technologist Lead in Orem, Utah

Job Description:

The MRI Tech-Lead ensures optimal safety, quality, satisfaMRIion, engagement, compliance, operations, staffing, processes, efficiency, training, mentoring, etc. at Tellica Imaging. The MRI Tech-Lead provides managerial oversight of clinical operations and provides critical frontline support to patients. The MRI Tech-Lead establishes proper handoff procedures between Tellica staff, ensures consistency for care delivery, and provides scheduled reports to Tellica Management. The MRI Tech-Lead performs a variety of MRI procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position uses ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgement to perform high quality scans.

Job Essentials

  • Ensures patient, caregiver, and guest safety and satisfaMRIion in accordance with existing principles and standards.

  • Ensures provision of high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic Imaging services in an operationally effeMRIive and efficient manner.

  • Promotes caregiver engagement and team initiatives. Assists in hiring, orienting, training, staffing, retaining, evaluating, and motivating competent engaged caregivers.

  • Maintains positive relationships within the department and facility including other departments, radiologists, referring physicians, and customers.

  • Early adopter, exemplar, implementer, super user, problem solver, champion, and idea generator.* Verifies that clinics have sufficient materials, supplies, resources, etc. to perform daily funMRIions.

  • Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.

  • Performs MRI examinations per department protocol.

  • Understands cross sectional anatomy and demonstrates anatomical positioning competency.

  • Critiques own films.

  • Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.

  • In coordination with the radiologist, selects proper scanning techniques and protocols.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocol relating to contrast administration. As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers intravenous contrast material to patients.

  • Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques.

  • Understands and appropriately operates all MRI equipment and related information systems to ensure that quality images are produced.

  • Exhibits understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging.

  • Views, transfers, archives, and manipulates images.

  • Exhibits a working knowledge of the MRI scanner. Troubleshoots when needed and understands the shutdown and start up procedures.

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the magnet, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and all relevant computer hardware and software.

  • Adheres to and understands MRI safety policies and procedures including the FOUR ZONE concept, the quench procedure, and proper MR magnet safety in an event of an emergency.

  • Understands proper MR magnet safety in an event of an emergency.

  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.

  • Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining consents if necessary, documenting any events that may occur for quality, maintaining a current QC program for ACR/Radsite and reporting any equipment failures or problems.

  • Functions as education liaison for new students, trainer for new employee orientation, Superuser for equipment, hospital/system group discussions or committees as the MRI representative as delegated per local department manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current licensure in Utah as a Radiologic Technologist.

  • MR registered technologist with ARRT.

  • Basic life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.

  • Intermountain IV certified

  • Three years of experience in MRI.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$37.46 - $57.80
