ProMedica Health System CST / Certified Surgical Technician - Labor and Delivery Services - Per Diem - Variable in Oregon, Ohio

ProMedica Bay Park Hospital caters to communities east of the Maumee River. Our campus includes a state-of-the-art community hospital with 91 private beds and a professional office building dedicated to doctors' offices and outpatient rehabilitation, as well as a treatment and diagnostic center. The hospital itself was designed with patient comfort and healing in mind, with wider hallways, single-patient rooms and an abundance of natural light.

Position Summary:

A Surgical Technologist assists with patient care and related activities in the operating room under the direction and supervision of an RN, in accordance with accepted standards, policies, and procedures. This position will be a part of the Bay Park Hospital Labor and Delivery department. Some duties include assisting with C/S, circumcisions, vaginal deliveries, newborn testing, and unit clerk duties.

Participates in planning, implementing and evaluating surgical instrumentation during the operative procedure. Collects instruments, packs and extra supplies for assigned surgical procedure. Opens supplies and sets up operating room, along with the RN circulator. Scrubs, gowns and sets up sterile field. Anticipates physicians instrumentation and equipment needs during the operative procedure. Demonstrates knowledge of surgical asepsis and utilizes appropriate sterile procedures, including but not limited to developing and maintaining a sterile field. Removes instrument and supplies to proper area. Demonstrates knowledge to clean/process instruments and equipment as indicated. Cleans as indicated. Cleans and restocks area, as needed

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program; or graduate of an approved LPN program Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) required or be able to obtain within 1 year of hire; or unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure from the State of Ohio CPR required Prior experience highly preferred
