The Manager, Human Resources will lead a team of four HR team members and support all HR functions, including talent acquisition, payroll and HRIS management, organizational health and safety, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and wellness program planning. This position works closely with Altra’s VP, Human Resources in our Onalaska WI Operations Center.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Communicate department and individual goals and evaluate job expectations with staff through coaching, guidance, and counseling needs.
Participate in personnel events including, but not limited to hiring, coaching, training, reviewing timecards, approving time off requests, conducting monthly one-on-ones, and departing employees.
Work with key initiatives that help further develop employee engagement, including Altra’s employee recognition program; stay, transfer, and exit interviews; teambuilding activities through all Altra,employee engagement surveys, analysis, recommendations, and follow-through.
Be a strategic partner with Altra’s compensation and benefit package.
Work with a multi-state employee base from an employment law and tax perspective.
Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with Human Resources emphasis, or related degree. Progressive work experience within the Human Resources discipline may be considered in lieu of degree. Previous supervisory experience, experience working in a multi-state environment, and either an HRCI or SHRM designation is preferred.
Advanced working knowledge of computers including word processing, spreadsheet software, and HRIS management is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent organizational skills. Local and national travel is expected.
Working in-office in Onalaska, WI is preferred, but willing to consider a blended schedule for the right candidate.

- Bachelors or better in Human Resource Administration
Experience
Required
Progressive work experience within the Human Resources discipline may be considered in lieu of degree.
