Day/Wknd Rotation 6:30A – 7P (36hrs/week) + Call and 2 Holidays/Yr

$10000 Hiring Bonus paid at 12 months

A Brief Overview

Performs a variety of preparatory, scrubbing and related duties necessary to provide patient care in the Operating Room. Assist with surgical cases in all surgical specialties.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews case cart and preference card before each case. Prepares the operating room by supplying it with supplies and instruments to provide appropriate patient care • Sets up and maintains the sterile field during the procedure using strict aseptic technique • Prepares and labels fluids and medications on sterile field • Performs appropriate counts prior to the operation and before incision is closed. • Participates in time out/sign out process

  • Scrubs to assist the surgeon in the completion of surgical procedures by demonstrating a working knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment needed for a variety of procedures. • Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, passing instruments and providing sterile items in an efficient manner, as directed by the surgeon/proceduralist. • Implements sharps safety practices including use of a safety zone. • Prepares specimens for pathologic analysis

  • Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization • Assists operating room team with environmental cleaning and case turnovers. • Stores and stocks supplies as needed • Participates in assigned on call activities.

  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

  • Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school or university as Surgical Technologist or applicable surgical technology course of study Required or

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association Required and

  • Current and valid Surgical Technologist certification Preferred and

  • If position filled by an LPN, current and valid LPN license for NE/IA depending on state of residency Required
