Omaha Public Power District Planning Specialist (Data Analysis - Pricing and Rates) in Omaha, Nebraska

The Planning Specialist provides analytical and technical support to management in the Pricing and Rates Department. The Planning Specialist is responsible for the effective recommendations that support OPPD's rate studies, cost of service studies, and load research.

Coordinate, gather, and maintain load research meter program. Ensure that we have complete monthly and yearly data for each meter to guarantee we have usage profiles for all rate classes for the cost-of-service study. Analyze weather statistics, economic statistics, financial statistics customer usage patterns and various other statistic used in forecasting and analysis.

  • Develop and maintain OPPD's load research program.

  • Transfer and aggregate data from MV90 to load research software.

    Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. Must be effective in formally presenting information to all levels of management. Must be capable of planning and leading meetings.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Working knowledge of data mining techniques.

  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office applications to include Excel, Access, Word and Power Point.

Desired:

  • Experience is utility rate design, cost of service studies, financial analysis, computer technology, model development, market research concept and economic forecasting.

  • Ability to proficiently use and apply specialized software such as: Oracle, Relational Databases, iCIS, and Cognos. Familiar with Itron software products including MV-90 and Irton's Load Research analysis software.
