Omaha Children's Hospital Pharmacy Technician Supervisor in Omaha, Nebraska
We’re searching for a Supervisor of Pharmacy Technicians who performs duties under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and/or Pharmacy Operation’s Manager and within the scope of practice as defined by the State of Nebraska. Serves as the practice leader/advocate for Pharmacy Technician staff in order to accomplish organizational and departmental strategic goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
Supervises in conjunction with the Pharmacy Operation’s Manager operational standards, organizes department-level activities to achieve optimum service delivery/systems/care/processes, setting high performance objectives for in-patient and out-patient services. Holds self and others accountable to meet stated objectives, outcomes, goals, timetables and commitments, adhering to standards even in the face of unforeseen circumstances.
Performs Pharmacy Technician duties in the day-to-day operations delivering pharmaceutical care.
Prepares, labels and delivers medications
Utilizes technology systems for performing work tasks
Compounds topical, oral, intravenous admixtures and antineoplastic drug therapies following established pharmaceutical production standards of practice as developed by the department and consistent with national standards in a consistent, accurate and timely manner
Maintains appropriate stock levels of medications within the pharmacy
Addresses customer service issues in a timely manner, including answering phones, directing calls, greeting visitors, and responding to questions in the Pharmacy.
Assists with interviewing, hiring, training, orientation, schedules, evaluates, develops, counsels, disciplines and terminates personnel in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
Prioritizes and coordinates daily work activities and schedules.
Provides leadership and guidance by sharing expertise with others.
Oversees the training of employees on job related tasks.
Conducts employee performance management duties including completion and delivery of performance evaluations, setting goals, dissemination of information, coaching, addressing performance issues/routine correction actions, and recommending termination of employment.
Submits notifications for personnel actions (e.g., status changes, terminations).
Selects and hires staff.
Ensures cost effective use of resources by identifying and implementing changes related to staff allocation and assignment, and patient/department supplies.
Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety practices, policies and recordkeeping standards.
Develops and maintains policies and procedures.
Participates in the implementation of business plans for the area.
May assist with annual budget by tracking expenses and providing input for future budget needs
Understands and maintains required regulatory and personnel records.
Maintains employee files according to HR and regulatory standards
Ensure all regulatory requirements and inspections are completed routinely
Provide or coordinate any departmental education needed by pharmacy technician staff
Conduct regular meetings with pharmacy technician staff
Assist in preparation and implementation of pharmacy staff competencies
Assist inventory control specialist as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Mathematical skills necessary for algebraic conversions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Verbal and written communication skills sufficient/necessary to receive and deliver information accurately among pharmacy staff and others.
Previous experience in health care area or unit dose medication preparation helpful but not required.
Good typing keyboard/computer skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience working a hospital pharmacy setting preferred
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Current and valid registration with the State of Nebraska is required.
Pharmacy Technician certification from a recognized national or local certification board required.
As applicable, must have valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record required
