Benchmarking Confluent Cloud
In this role, you'll focus on building Kora's highly available, reliable, secure, scalable, and multi-tenant compute layer. You'll be key to driving performance tuning and optimization for the Kora Compute Platform and related products. This includes identifying performance bottlenecks, creating performance testing strategies, and working with engineering teams to improve system performance. You'll also drive technical solutions end-to-end, collaborating with the team and stakeholders to design.
What You Will Do:
Platform Optimization: Develop strategies to optimize kafka performance for scalability, resilience, and high availability aligned with organizational goals.
Performance Tuning: Conduct analysis and tuning of our confluent Kafka offerings to meet the performance requirements under various loads.
Tooling: Build tools to measure key performance metrics, providing insights into efficiency and resource utilization.
Monitoring: Establish monitoring systems for metrics, proactively identifying and resolving performance issues in production.
Leadership: Lead and mentor performance engineers, offering guidance and support to ensure platform efficiency across deployments.
What You Will Bring:
BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
2+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure/cloud networking experience
Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
Experience building and operating large-scale systems in the Cloud
Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, operating systems, etc)
A self starter with the ability to work effectively in teams
Proficiency in Java, Scala, C/C++, Go or other statically typed languages
What Gives You an Edge:
Strong understanding of performance analysis methodologies, tools, and metrics. Experience with distributed systems, cloud environments, and performance analysis. Knowledge of Kafka would be highly beneficial.
In-depth familiarity with the JVM or any other memory management systems
A strong background in distributed storage systems or databases
Experience in the areas of resource management and QoS
Experience/knowledge with public clouds (AWS, Azure or GCP)
Interest in evangelism (giving talks at tech conferences, writing blog posts evangelizing Kafka)
Experience working on databases or data storage

This position has an annual estimated salary of $235,800 - $253,400, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
