This is a combined posting for a Medical Laboratory Technician and Medical Laboratory Scientist. The requirements of each role are listed below under each associated title. The position is responsible for technical Medical Laboratory Technician bench duties within the laboratory, for the assigned section(s). The position performs routine and complex tests in any of these potential sections (as assigned): Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Molecular, and Immunohematology. The position has responsibility for planning, performing and evaluating laboratory testing analysis; and establishing and/or maintaining communications with physicians, patients, other hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations.
The position is responsible for professional Medical Laboratory Scientist bench duties within the laboratory, for the assigned section(s). The position performs routine and complex tests or analyses in any of these potential sections (as assigned): Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Toxicology, Microbiology, Molecular, Mycology, Immunohematology, LIS and Lean. The position has responsibility for planning, performing and evaluating laboratory testing analysis; and establishing and/or maintaining communications with physicians, patients, other hospital personnel, professional associations, and other organizations. Bachelor's degree level position with applicants who obtained education outside of the United States must have their education evaluated for equivalency by an Acceptable Evaluation Agency for Foreign Transcripts.
Medical Laboratory Technician:
Required qualifications:
Associate's Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
Upon hire: National Medical Laboratory Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology or National Medical Laboratory Technician - American Medical Technologists or National Medical Laboratory Technician - American Association of Bioanalysis
1 year as a MLT in a clinical laboratory performing moderate and high complexity testing.
Medical Laboratory Scientist:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited college/university that included clinical rotation or in a chemical, physical, or biological science AND completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Science program or with completion of 60 semester/90 quarter hours from an accredited college/university that includes a minimum of 6 semester/9 quarter hours of chemistry, 6 semester/9 quarter hours of biology, and 12 semester/18 quarter hours of other chemistry, biology, and/or medical laboratory science courses AND at least three months full time clinical experience in all laboratory areas.
National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology upon hire or National Medical Technologist - American Association of Bioanalysts upon hire or National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists upon hire or National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Medical Technologists upon hire
