Director of Technology Business Operations

Job Summary:

The Director of Technology Business Operations is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing technology operations across the organization. This position involves planning, monitoring, and executing cross-technology functions such as audit requirements, CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) requirements, security score management, and technical debt. The Director will also ensure the successful delivery of releases and manage cross-team dependencies to ensure seamless operations and alignment across all technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Technology Operations Management: Lead and oversee the day-to-day technology operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Cross-Functional Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans to manage cross-technology functions, including audit requirements, CISO requirements, security score improvement, and technical debt reduction.

Release Management: Plan and execute the delivery of technology releases, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate and manage dependencies between different technology teams to ensure efficient and effective project execution.

Risk and Compliance: Ensure that all technology operations comply with regulatory and audit requirements, and work closely with security teams to maintain and improve the organization’s security posture.

Performance Monitoring: Track and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to technology operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for technology operations, providing regular updates to senior leadership and ensuring clear communication across all levels of the organization.

Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the technology operations team, encouraging innovation and the adoption of best practices.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: 15+ years of experience in technology operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Experience in managing cross-functional technology initiatives is essential.

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, security, and compliance requirements. Familiarity with audit processes, security frameworks, and technical debt management.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and drive operational excellence.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and implement solutions that align with organizational goals.

Project Management: Experience in project management, with a track record of successfully delivering technology projects on time and within budget.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in Education industry

Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or IT service management (e.g., ITIL).

Experience with agile methodologies and tools.

Preferred Locations: Boston, MA

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $185,000 - $200,000
