Eden Heights of Olean Medication Technician (MT in Olean, New York

The Medication Technician (MT) assists in the administration of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor and/or Wellness Director. The MT also serves as a Personal Care Aide (PCA) and assists residents with all activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, showering/bathing and eating. Answers residents' call bells in a timely fashion. Provides residents with help walking, exercising and moving in and out of bed. Aides in cleaning rooms, changing linens and doing resident laundry. Must complete a medication assistance preceptorship and pass competency evaluation, medication assistance test and any necessary exams in accordance within the laws of NY State and company policy. Must be available to work (rotating) weekends, extended shift hours and holidays as needed. Candidate must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Previous PCA experience is preferred. Must have First Aid certification upon hire or obtained during probationary period at the company's expense. Candidates are subject to a criminal history background check, fingerprinting and a pre-employment physical and TB test.

Working Conditions Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, Infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.

Physical and Sensory Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must possess sight or hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the communities, which may include a medical and physical examination. Must be able to walk the community for most of the day and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift a minimum of 5 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds, periodically and/or as needed.
