Duties Description The Department of Biological Sciences at the State University of New York Old Westbury seeks to hire a full-time Lecturer for the 2025/2026 academic year (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026) to teach courses in biological sciences. This is a one-year, non-renewable, appointment. Candidates for this temporary position will teach four (4) 4-credit courses per semester. We seek candidates that have a passion to teach and work with undergraduates in the Department of Biological Sciences. Desired areas of specialization could include molecular biology, cell biology, evolution and genetics. As SUNY Old Westbury is primarily a teaching institution, the candidate must be able to teach effectively at introductory and advanced undergraduate levels. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach undergraduate-level courses which may include Introductory Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Animal Behavior, Evolution, and Genetics. Candidates will also be encouraged to develop a curriculum in their area of specialization.We welcome applicants from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented on college campuses, especially scholars working on issues of race and who are committed to diversity and inclusion in their scholarship and teaching. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:Candidates with an ABD in Biological Science, or a related field, with a firm completion date, will be considered.Candidates with a Master's degree in Biological Sciences and prior teaching experience at college level will be considered.Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. in Biological Science or a related field.Experience teaching a culturally diverse undergraduate student population.
