Carrington Staff Tax Accountant, CCM in Old Greenwich, Connecticut

What you’ll do:

Staff Tax Accountant will be Responsible for the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of tax returns, tax-related schedules, and reports. Prepares paperwork for local, state, and federal level returns to be submitted within specified deadlines. Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all state and federal laws, and regulations, wherein the company operates. The target pay range for this position is $85,000.00 to $110,000.00.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare federal, state, and local partnership and corporate tax returns, payments, estimates, reports and maintain company’s tax database and calendar.

  • Research and identify tools that are available to reduce tax liability where possible.

  • Find and provide tax solutions/recommendations to complicated tax issues.

  • Identify legal tax savings and recommend ways to improve profits.

  • Ensure the company is following federal, state, and local tax regulations.

  • Advise management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws.

  • Coordinate and oversee outsourced tax preparation work.

  • Accurately prepare quarterly and annual tax reports.

  • Remain current and up to date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications

  • Research and analyze various tax scenarios/issues and provide analysis and recommendations to senior management.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills must be able to explain basic to intermediately complex tax regulations.

  • Strong working knowledge and skills in Excel.

  • Excellent math and statistics skills with a strong comfortability with numbers.

  • Excellent time management skills must be able to prioritize tasks and take responsibility for a professional workload and ensure time sensitive deadlines are met.

  • Strong critical thinking skills must be able to solve issues and be creative in your thinking.

  • Extreme diligence must pay attention to each word in the tax regulations and laws.

  • Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret statistical data and/or to develop forecasts and computer models

  • Ability to compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports and/or to orally communicate technical information.

  • Two (2) years or more experience with tax preparation automated systems

  • Initiative-taking, collaborative, a quick learner with good communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills to perform multiple tasks within limited periods.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or business or equivalent work experience.

  • Three (3) to four (4) years corporate tax experience.
