Schedule: twelve-hour day 2-3-2 shift schedule to provide 24/7 coverage, 4AM – 4PM & 4PM – 4 AM, Average 8 hours OT each bi-weekly paycheck

Summary: The Production Chemical Operator carries out independently and responsibly all operations required to safely control machinery, equipment, and the Production Process using all written procedures and verbal instructions.

Qualified individuals will combine safety, chemical processing, and computer and team skills to contribute to a highly skilled workforce.

Qualifications:

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent

  • Proven stable and dedicated work history

  • Solid computer and math skills

  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that can work in a team atmosphere

  • Able to work 12 hour shift schedule and lift 50 pounds

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing chemical reactions visible through sight glasses or manways and reviewing laboratory test reports to determine need for process adjustments and making calculations related to process operation.

  • Patrolling the production area, inspecting equipment for potential and actual hazards, wear, leaks, and other conditions requiring maintenance or shutdown.

  • Recording accurate instrument readings, process conditions, and other operating data in appropriate computer or paper-based systems, calculating material requirements or product yield as necessary from standard formulas.

  • Manually regulating or shutting down equipment with effective communication during emergency situations in accordance with established Vantage Performance Material and OSHA procedures.

  • Monitoring recording instruments, flow meters, panel lights, and other indicators, and listening for warning signals to verify conformity of process conditions to plant standards of safety, efficiency and quality as well as cGMP and Kosher requirements.

  • Maintaining and achieving safety and environmental regulations during process operation with compliance to all regulatory permits.

  • Controlling systems that process chemical substances into specified products, according to knowledge of operating procedures, chemical reactions, laboratory test results, and correlation of process instrumentation.

  • Observing gauges, signals, and recording instruments, turning valves and moving controls to regulate temperatures, pressures, and flow of steam, coolant, and chemical constituents through systems to effect prescribed reaction within critical limits, according to knowledge of equipment and processes.

  • Maintaining and operating packaging process equipment to package finished product to established standards of quality, volume and labeling standards.

  • Maintaining production areas to acceptable standards of housekeeping and sanitation.

  • Effectively interacting with other employees in a team environment.

  • Conducting and documenting as required, inspections on safety equipment, process equipment, and forklifts.

  • Working with assigned Operations Training to ensure all of their personal training requirements are met.

  • Preparing equipment and issuing proper safe work permits as required for maintenance and/or project work.

  • Cleaning up spills and recognizing if a material is a potentially hazardous waste and contacting EH&S with the information needed to make this determination.

  • Collecting Hazardous waste in jars, pails, drums, totes, or tank wagons, and labeling and storing them in designated areas.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, incumbent is frequently required to climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; frequently required to stand and walk; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Occasional communication by telephone so must be able to speak clearly and hear well. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus and to work at a sustained pace for a good portion of a twelve-hour day.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing plant with no significant noise level but regular exposure to machinery as well as hazardous chemicals and fumes/odors.
