Pay Range $26.40-$42.23*

Emergency Department - Psychosocial Assessor – Per Diem- Primary Shift 7p-7:30a-Various Shifts as needed– Req 6943

A Psychosocial Assessor applies high risk screening criteria, conducts psychosocial assessments, develops, evaluates, implements, and coordinates appropriate admission/discharge plans meeting hospital care goals and patient needs with full participation from the patient and family members. Provides supportive counseling, crisis intervention, bereavement counseling and trauma counseling. Uses principles of growth and tailors interventions to accommodate patient/family cultural, religious, and gender specific needs. Acts as a patient advocate, assisting medical personnel and families in understanding social and emotional issues, needs impacting the patient and the admission/discharge plan. Identifies and refers issues of spiritual or ethical concern to appropriate resources. Maintains personal growth and development to keep skills in line with job requirements and assists fellow staff members with the task of keeping their skills in line as well. Maintains knowledge about and can apply DNV regulations, NYS DOH rules and regulations related to discharge planning, OMH rules and regulations, and abuse/neglect indicators and reporting processes.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology required. Current BLS certification. PMCS Certification. Basic computer knowledge. Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information. Maintaining quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory agencies. Ability to implement and support procedures and programs pertaining to patient safety and security. Exhibit proficient communication skills and ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a variety of personalities. Ability to sustain attention to detail and accuracy as it pertains to the monitoring and documentation of information. Maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to participate in patient crisis intervention and have the ability to restrain combative residents.

Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
