WILLIAMS INTERNATIONAL CO., L.L.C. Mechanical Engineering Technician Casting Trainer in OGDEN, Utah

The Opportunity 

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technician -- Casting Trainer to join our team at our facility located at 3450 Sam Williams Dr., Ogden. UT 84401.  The successful applicant shall work on-site and be responsible for CNC Manufacturing Cells(s) including fabrication of turbine engine parts and components. 

 

*This position is 100% onsite and no remote or hybrid option is available at this time.   *

 

More specific duties include: 

 

Working within a team environment, the mechanical engineering technician -- casting trainer will have responsibility for training in the setup and operation of computerized and/or manual investment casting-related machines and equipment. 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

 

1.      Training in the set-up and operation of investment foundry-related machines including precision wax assembly, wax injection, shell investment, dewax, shell, core and gate removal, deburr, finish, etc.

2.      Manufacture and/or test parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.

3.      Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.

4.      Train and participate in establishing manufacturing methods, including machine, test, material and tooling requirements, to ensure parts are manufactured according to engineering tolerances/specifications.

5.      Perform inspection and/or testing-related activities to ensure that parts are produced in accordance with manufacturing standards and desired specifications. Visually inspects parts to ensure they are free of defects.

6.      Provide input and recommendations for selecting, installing, and adjusting various foundry related equipment to ensure they are consistent with type and size of material being manufactured.

7.      Train and mentor the casting team to weld map, black light repair and white light blend to remove burrs, sharp edges, flash, inclusions and other irregularities from manufactured parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering requirements.

8.      Maintain proper identification of parts per planning specifications and ensures that accurate and reliable records and documentation are maintained.

9.      Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation.

10.    Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated.

12.    Ensure the continuous flow of materials and parts through the Cell.

13.    Ensure that the casting team adheres to all safety standards and regulations.

14.    Participate in the training and development of other Cellular Manufacturing Associates to promote the continuous quality improvement of manufacturing operations.

15.    Strive to accomplish team goals and enhance the quality of manufactured parts through the reduction of scrap and improvement of throughput.

16.        Perform other duties as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Two or more years of engineering experience training and mentoring team members.

Two years of experience with investment castings specifically with small gas turbine engine parts.

Two years of experience manufacturing and training team members with wax p attern assembly, foundry defects inspection, fluorescent penetrant inspection, weld map and blending.

Two years of experience and or training with Foreign Object Damage (FOD).

Two years of experience with wax injection, shell investment, core and gate removal, rework, deburr and finish. 

Two years of experience using and calibrating measuring gages according to approved planning.
