Software Engineer II

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer with extensive experience in automating workflows, managing microservices, and implementing robust security measures within cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GitHub, GitHub Actions, and cloud-native architectures, with a proven track record in repository migrations and CI/CD practices.

Role

Full Stack Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Java, Spring Boot, and front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js).

• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create responsive and user-friendly interfaces.

Implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.

DevOps Automation:

• Utilize GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation, including testing and deployment workflows.

• Implement and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform or Ansible to provision environments.

• Integrate application monitoring and logging solutions to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Authentication and Authorization:

• Implement secure authentication mechanisms using OAuth, OIDC, and JWT.

• Design and enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and API security measures.

Microservices Architecture:

• Develop and maintain microservices in a cloud-native environment, leveraging Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.

• Collaborate with teams to implement API Gateway solutions and microservices communication patterns.

Continuous Improvement:

• Optimize CI/CD pipelines for efficiency and reliability, incorporating automated testing and security scans.

Cloud Experience:

• Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) using microservices architecture.

• Ensure compliance with cloud security best practices, including IAM, VPC configurations, and data encryption.

All About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with expertise in Java and modern front-end frameworks.

• Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD tools, and infrastructure automation.

• Familiarity with microservices architecture and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with API documentation tools (e.g., Swagger, OpenAPI).

• Knowledge of GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security features, and repository management.

• Familiarity with cloud-native services and best practices.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
