Material/Process Inspector I or II:Performs advanced material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and at points of supply. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential DutiesMaterial/Process Inspector I:Coordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors and material producers and suppliers.Drives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to monitor status of programs, meet with supervisors and managers to resolve problems and perform unannounced inspection of operations.Plans, coordinates, assigns, monitors and reviews the work of technical employees.Trains and assists other inspectors and private sector employees and provides project specification information.Conducts nuclear density tests on subgrade, base and asphaltic concrete pavement.Maintains and calibrates equipment.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
