Job Description
JOB BRIEF:
The psychologist will provide specialized psychological counseling and counseling to individuals with moderate to severe mental disorders in a community or home setting, as well as conduct group sessions and psychoeducation, assessing other vulnerabilities due to working in MHPSS mobile units. In addition, if necessary, it will provide psychological first aid (PFA) and remote consultations, perform structured clinical assessments, maintain strict confidentiality in documentation, and provide referrals.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide specialized psychological counseling and one-on-one counseling to clients with moderate to severe mental disorders in a community or home setting.
Conduct group or informational sessions and psychoeducation in the community or at home.
Assess the specific needs of beneficiaries through MHPSS mobile units and develop individual case management strategies accordingly.
Work closely with the nurse to ensure physical and mental health and wellbeing for the most vulnerable beneficiaries through home visits.
If necessary, provide psychological first aid (PFA) and conduct remote psychological consultations by phone.
Perform structured clinical assessments and formulate clear case plans based on cognitive, behavioral, and emotional needs.
Maintain strict confidentiality and provide organized documentation of assessments, evaluations, reviews, and follow-ups.
Effectively manage urgent cases, make appropriate referrals.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of the services provided, while maintaining the confidentiality of the client.
Actively participate in supervision meetings with the MHPSS Supervisor and MHPSS Specialist.
Perform any other tasks that the manager deems necessary to support MHPSS program objectives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
At least a bachelor's degree in psychology or higher (psychiatrist, Ph.D., MD).
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the practice of clinical psychology and providing specialized psychological counseling in a humanitarian environment through a non-governmental organization.
Knowledge and experience in clinical supervision and training.
Knowledge and experience of interagency standards and guidelines in the field of MHPSS.
A strong understanding of the principles of protection, case management and client-centred assistance in humanitarian settings.
Proficiency in IT skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is essential for tasks such as data collection, map updates, and providing detailed weekly reports on outreach activities.
LINES OF COMMAND
The position reports to the head of MHPSS.
Works closely with other members of the MHPSS mobile unit (nurse, social worker, and psychiatrist), line manager, MHPSS specialist, and advocacy teams working in the area.
