The Opportunity Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (IMMEDIATE) Competencies and Qualifications Lighthouse Community Charter School is looking for a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant who is relentlessly committed to ensuring that traditionally underserved students achieve our mission of completing college and securing the career of choice. Lighthouse staff believe that this important mission is not only attainable; it is essential to transforming our Oakland community. Roles and Responsibilities Address student's speech production, vocal production, and language needs through speech therapy according to students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) Plan and provide appropriate individual and group speech and language therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals under the direction of a state-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Implement documented treatment plans or protocols developed by a supervising SLP Assist with screenings and evaluations as directed by supervising SLP Collect data and document student progress toward meeting Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals Prepares for use in the classroom therapy materials and such as picture cards and games, and equipment, such as augmentative communication devices. Implement behavior management techniques to encourage a positive learning environment May participate in parent conferences and pupil instruction and planning processes Performs a variety of clerical support duties such as maintaining records, files and preparing reports related to assigned students as well as providing appropriate documentation to the interdisciplinary team Keep current on the latest development in the field of speech therapy by attending professional seminars, reading current literature and participating in professional organizations Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associate's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Required Bachelor's Degree in Communicative Disorders or related field, Preferred Valid California License in Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant granted by the California Speech Language and Hearing Audiology Board 1+ year as a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant, preferably in a school setting Spanish fluency, Preferred SUPERVISION This position reports to: Speech and Language Pathologist TIME COMMITMENT This position is a full-time salaried exempt 10-month position that follows the 190-day school year.
