Summary

SUMMARY : The Medical director of Cardiac Non-invasive Laboratory (NIL) will provide Cardiovascular disease services and Cardiac NIL leadership for Alameda Health System, under employment from Alameda Health Medical Group. Services will be on-site at Highland Hospital or Alameda Hospital.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  1. Provide full-scope of Cardiology services including inpatient, outpatient and consultative services.

  2. Perform cardiac procedures (e.g. Transesophageal echocardiograms, electric cardioversions).

  3. In collaboration with NIL manager, Cardiovascular (CV) service line director, and lead sonographer, provide NIL leadership as it relates to maintenance of accreditation, quality improvement and optimization of systemwide NIL operations.

  4. Lead and provide oversight for the operational and strategic planning initiatives related to the Cardiac NIL.

  5. Lead and provide oversight for quality improvement initiatives related to the Cardiac NIL.

  6. Liaise and collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient use of Cardiac NIL resources.

  7. Work with IT to develop, implement and improve quality of structured reporting.

  8. Provide general cardiology call support for the Division of Cardiology.

  9. Participate in noninvasive cardiology interpretation service including echocardiography, cardiac stress testing, electrocardiography, Holter/event monitor interpretation etc.

  10. Support and contribute to the academic and teaching mission of the Division of Cardiology and Department of Medicine, including providing training to rotating house staff and students.

  11. Use administrative time to participate, as requested, in organizational committees, task forces, etc. subject to availability and agreement with Chief of Cardiology and Chair of Medicine (or their designee).

  12. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Cardiology and Chair of Medicine.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.

Required: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.

Valid DEA license
