Express Employment Professionals Machine Shop Supervisor - Direct Hire Opportunity in Oak Harbor, Washington
We are recruiting for a Machine Shop Supervisor for our client who specializes in life science fluidics, microfluidics, and optics at the forefront of innovation, providing advanced solutions to drive scientific and medical advancements.
As a Machine Shop Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the production team. Your responsibilities will include supporting direct reports, ensuring the team meets its goals, conducting regular one-on-one meetings, and providing career coaching and feedback. You will also be responsible for interviewing and training new hires, optimizing resource utilization, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.* *

- Ensure team meets or exceeds safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
- Conduct routine 1:1 meetings, provide career coaching, and frequent feedback on performance and behavior.
- Adhere to all company policies.
- Interview and train new hires.
- Optimize resource utilization and develop process improvements to increase efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
- Facilitate daily management each day to drive team engagement and improvements.
- Identify obstacles and inefficiencies and propose solutions to resolve them.
- Evaluate skills, training gaps, and business needs to focus training efforts.
- Provide team daily staffing assignments and guidance on daily work and priorities.
- Respond to safety concerns and proactively resolve potential safety issues.
- Support production team during the entirety of their shift.
- Implement visual management for scheduling and work cell stability.
- Own the learning ladder program for the department and keep associated documents updated.
- Encourage and promote teamwork, participation, and collaboration.
- Ensure weekly cycle counts are performed.
- Investigate and resolve work order issues, material variances, quality issues, and inventory issues.
What you need to be successful:
- Proven experience in CNC machining and manual machining operations.
- Strong understanding of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodology.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- Familiarity with CNC programming and CAD software.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Able to de-escalate conflict and remain objective and direct when dealing with disciplinary actions.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Schedule: Monday -- Friday from 6:00 AM 2:30 PM* *
Pay: $65,500.00 - $81,900.00 (DOE)* *
