JOB PURPOSE

The US Records Management Office oversees the proper handling of CIBC records for regulatory and operational requirements for the US Region. The Records Management Senior Manager is responsible for leading the Records Management Office to ensure the proper handling, storage, and retrieval of CIBC records in compliance with regulatory and operational requirements. This role involves strategic planning, policy development, and collaboration with internal clients to manage both hard copy and electronic records. The Records Management Senior Manager will drive initiatives to enhance records management practices, ensure compliance, and support the integration of new technologies and users into existing platforms. Occasional travel to CIBC business centers may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor US compliance to the Enterprise Data Lifecycle Management Policy

  • Ensure alignment to Legal, Privacy, Compliance and Information Security requirements

  • Train associates on CIBC’s content repositories

  • Assist in integrating new users onto existing platforms as part of the US Region integration strategy

  • Contribute to projects aligned with new legislation

  • Assist application owners with onboarding new applications with Records Management functions

  • Set team goals and objectives and monitor progress towards meeting them

Who You Are

  • You possess knowledge in records management standards and best practices, such as ISO 15489, AIIM and ARMA

  • You demonstrate the ability to design and implement records management processes and procedures, such as retention schedules, disposition plans, and metadata schemes

  • Your skills extend to working in various areas to classify, index, store, retrieve, and dispose of records using appropriate methods and tools, such as barcodes, scanners, and shredders.

  • Your capabilities include training and supervising associates on records management tasks and providing guidance and support.

  • Your effective communication skills enable collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders on records management issues and facilitate solutions.

  • As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • For People Managers: As a manager of people, this job has the authority to assign tasks to employees within their span of control, select individuals for hire, assess individual performance, make employee compensation decisions and take disciplinary measures up to and including termination.

  • Escalating matters that can result in adverse market practices and outcomes, thereby negatively impacting CIBC’s reputation as a leading financial institution

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the information governance field

  • Prefer at least one professional certification i.e. Certified Information Professional (CIP) or Certified Records Manager (CRM).

  • Familiarity with MS 365 suite of tools including MS Office, Power BI, Microsoft Power Platform and potentially other RPA/BI platforms such as Alteryx, SQL, Tableau, and Cognos

  • Familiarity with records management software and systems, such as SharePoint, OpenText Content Server, Documentum, and Laserfiche or similar applications

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks both technical and administrative concurrently

  • Ability to establish productive relationships with multiple internal clients and departments. Comfortable interacting with a variety of management levels.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to deliver on client’s requests

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $113,000.00 - $150,000.00 for the Chicago market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
