What’s the role?

We are looking for an experienced Video Producer to join our dynamic video news team. This role is ideal for a video professional with a passion for news, a keen eye for visual storytelling, and the skills to deliver high-quality video content under tight deadlines. As part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in producing daily video stories for our growing digital audience.

As a Video Producer, you will be responsible for shooting and editing video news stories for News.com.au video projects. This role will require you to be hands-on in post-production editing, ensuring each story is visually compelling, accurate and aligned with the editorial voice of the publication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Editorial Judgment: Work closely with editorial teams to ensure videos meet journalistic standards and are compelling for our audience.

  • Story Development: Take editorial direction and shape raw footage into polished, engaging video reports that fit within a fast-paced news environment.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in editing software. Have a strong understanding of video formats, resolution, and compression.

  • Collaboration: Work with reporters, journalists, and other producers to bring visual elements to the stories being covered.

  • Innovative Thinking : Bring fresh ideas to the table, experimenting with new techniques, styles, and formats to elevate the video offering for News.com.au audience.

Who are you?

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in broadcast news production with hands-on experience in shooting and editing video content in a fast-paced news environment

  • Advanced proficiency with video editing and graphics software (e.g.Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects knowledge a plus)

  • A strong portfolio of work demonstrating your ability to produce high-quality news video under tight deadlines

  • Camera experience will be considered From time to time may be called on to assist with shoots

  • Excellent storytelling skills: The ability to craft compelling narratives through video, with a keen eye for detail
