News Corp Australia Sports Reporter in NSW, Australia

What’s the role?

We currently have a Sports Reporter position available in news.com.au newsroom. This position is a vital part of the newsroom and will be crucial in building our sports coverage across site, search and social.

We need someone who can deliver unique content, drive conversation and socially-engage our readers. Covering both local and international sports, the role will require strong writing skills, and the ability to spot the stories that will connect with our audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working in a team of sports reporters across a seven-day roster

  • Engaging our social media audience with timely content

  • Implementing best practice standards to maximise referral traffic on search

  • Being able to write about the biggest sports events of the day, and have an opinion on contentious issues

  • Optimising content so it works on social, search and on site.

Who are you?

  • At least three years digital experience

  • Ability to use and understand Canva, social scheduling tools and other social media platforms

  • A deep understanding of local and international sports with a focus on AFL, NRL, F1 and cricket

  • Ability to work well in a team of reporters

  • Able to attend the Sydney office on a minimum three days per week

  • Ability to use data and insights to create content and to inform content choices

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
