Henry Ford Health System RN- Nurse Manager-Internal/Family Medicine- 40 hours- day shifts in Novi, Michigan

  • Same Day Care-provides expert care for minor adult and pediatric concerns. Our team is prepared to treat minor illnesses and injuries, including sprains and stiches. On-site lab, X-ray and pharmacy services available.

  • The Henry Ford international travel heath clinic can help our customers prepare for a trip. Our team of educated staff will customize a travel health plan around our patients health status, travel location and activities they have planned so our patients remain healthy as they travel abroad.

  • While our internal medicine clinics provide care for patients starting at aged 18 and older, family medicine is differs in that family medicine doctors are trained to care for patients of all ages, from children to seniors. Many people choose to see their family medicine doctor throughout their entire lives, creating a long term, trusted relationship. Our family medicine providers offer a broad spectrum of services, including obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, dermatology, behavioral health, and pediatrics. This comprehensive training allows our family medicine doctors to address a wide variety of health care needs for our patients.

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse manager to lead clinical operations at our Same-Day Care, International Travel Health Clinic, Internal Medicine and Family Medicine clinics. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for overseeing the clinical staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, and managing daily operations at both the Columbus and Commerce locations. This role will require an individual who is skilled in leadership, patient care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

    LOCATION:

    Primary: Henry Ford Medical Center- Columbus Center, Novi.

    Secondary: Henry Ford Medical Center- Commerce Township.

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    The Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse who is accountable for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating the delivery of patient care at multiple sites or departments. Provides clinic leadership and works in partnership with nursing, the health care team and leadership to assure quality patient care. Care is provided in accordance with departmental, Henry Ford Medical Group and Henry Ford Health policies and procedures. Facilitates empowerment of staff in the implementation of creative and innovative patient care delivery models and stimulates a collaborative multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services. In conjunction with the Administrator, assumes responsibility for fiscal management of clinic/department.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Focuses on staff development, career enrichment and provides educational opportunities.

  • Commitment to achieving system goals related to employee opinion survey and service excellence initiatives.

  • Provides leadership, education and mentoring for staff.

  • Responsible for ensuring that proper personnel procedures are followed in terms of interviewing, evaluating, orienting, and training new staff.

  • Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for personnel.

  • Facilitates professional development and clinical growth through implementation and maintenance of mandatory and special competencies.

  • Maintains records relating to licensure, certifications, and attendance of staff.

  • Plans and conducts meetings to keep nursing leadership staff abreast of current hospital and health network information.

  • Actively supports nursing research.

  • Utilizes evidence-based practice to revise policies and procedures.

  • Maintains current knowledge of grievance and disciplinary procedures.

  • Communicates effectively and maintains competent coaching and counseling skills during performance review and employee discipline process.

  • Knows regulatory standards from TJC, OSHA, MIOSHA, MDPH and Nursing Practice standards to ensure appropriate policies, procedures and protocols are being established and/or maintained throughout the department/clinic.

  • Accountable for ongoing evaluation process to assure compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards.

  • Identifies risk issues, prepares response, implements plan, and evaluates outcomes.

  • Leads and actively participates in quality and safety initiatives.

  • Plans and implements staff scheduling based on data to meet financial targets.

  • Works collaboratively with nursing leadership across Henry Ford Health to provide consistent nursing practice.

  • Accountable for maintenance and service for all equipment.

  • Communicates with patients, family members, supervisors, and technical personnel to resolve problems and ensure the provision of quality care.

  • Demonstrates leadership accountability in the systems renewal and service excellence initiatives.

  • Represents nursing on various committees and councils.

  • Participates in community activities and or professional organizations.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor's Degree in nursing or related field required.

  • Successful completion of Henry Ford Ambulatory orientation.

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or equivalent preferred.

  • Three to five (3-5) years of progressively more responsible experience demonstrating leadership skills in a clinical setting required.

  • Some examples include Charge Nurse Duties; Leadership of special projects such as Service Excellence teams; Quality Improvement initiatives, Clinic Process Redesign.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage complex clinical, administrative, and interpersonal problems. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Maintains professional competency through review of current literature, attendance at educational programs, and participation in professional organizations.

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

  • Current BLS or ACLS per Henry Ford Health policy.
