Robert Half Data Center Technician/Field Analyst in Norwood, New Jersey
Description
Responsibilities:
• Schedule EDC workload in assigned building(s) and coordinate movement of equipment between rooms, floors, and buildings
• Translate IT requests and vendor requests into work orders and review all outstanding scope requests (Tickets) daily
• Oversee the ordering of appropriate facilities work and perform server configurations
• Conduct equipment troubleshooting and manage equipment decommissions and re-locations to maximize cabinet space
• Initiate power requests with the infrastructure team and coordinate work requests with electrical contractor to ensure all service levels are met
• Manage installation requests from initiation to closure and allocate rack position for equipment installation
• Verify and test all network connections and peripherals prior to handing off to clients, and support equipment "go live" for IT Business Units
• Handle the assembly of server equipment for installation and perform quality assurance tests according to specifications
• Update various inventory databases each time a device is visited and perform audits and inventories of equipment in communication room
Skills:
• Familiarity with Fiber Optics, Cisco Routers, Router Switches, Physical Servers, Copper Cabling, Network Cabling
Requirements • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a NOC Technician
• Proficient in Fiber Optics
• Experience with Cisco Routers is necessary
• Knowledge of Router Switches is required
• Familiarity with Physical Servers is essential
• Expertise in Copper Cabling is required
