The Arc Eastern Connecticut Registered Nurse Supervisor - Seasonal 40 Hours in Norwich, Connecticut

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Nurse is responsible for all aspects of nursing care, medications, and implementing agency policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants. Will be available for consultation regarding first aid, medical needs, and emergency care of individuals. They will ensure compliance with all state and regulatory reporting requirements. Will present staff in-services relating to medications and nursing issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

  • Minimum of 3-5yrs exp. in a clinical setting, preferably serving individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.

  • Experienced with Department of Developmental Services regulations, forms, and protocols.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suit

  • Current State of CT RN License

  • The Nurse must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Will be required to participate in lifts, transfers, and behavioral or physical intervention during emergency situations.

  • May be exposed to the risk of injury or exposure to occupational health hazards.

    Essential Functions: Ensures confidentiality as required by Law, The Arc ECT, and DDS policies and procedures which includes keeping records, conversations, correspondence (regarding program participants and staff) confidential.

    Expectations:

  • Responsible for all aspects of nursing care and medications to all people served by The Arc

  • Must always have on-call availability.

  • Will audit monthly physician order sheet and medication administration records.

  • Ensures medical appointments are completed, timely and followed up.

  • Completes annual, quarterly, and other reports and notes as required by licensing regulations.

  • Attends Annual Individual Plan meetings and quarterly reviews when medical needs dictate.

  • Completes staff medication administration lab practicums as part of certification & re-certification.

  • Conducts in-services relating to medications and nursing issues.

  • Available to accept telephone orders from physicians.

  • Available for consultation regarding first aid and emergency care of individuals.

  • Available to attend interdisciplinary meetings regarding resident issues.

  • Available to move freely from one facility to another.

  • Treats all individuals in an age-appropriate manner, with respect and dignity.

  • Maintains a professional and positive attitude when dealing with program participants, staff, families, and the public.

  • Works with a spirit of cooperation with all departments

  • Carries own malpractice insurance.

  • Carries out all job responsibilities in a professional manner.

  • Maintains attendance. Adheres to policies on attendance, days of absence, and illness.

  • Keeps supervisor informed of any significant events or the need to modify any area of the operation/activity.

    Schedule:

    Sunday thru Friday 40 hrs. flexible
