City of Northville Maintenance Assistant in Northville, Michigan
General Summary: Allen Terrace, an independent living community for active seniors located in the heart of beautiful Northville, is seeking a trusted and caring staffer to serve our residents. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks relating to the maintenance and cleanliness of our community. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Assistant's responsibilities will include performing general maintenance, repair, and regular cleaning of the building, grounds and equipment. Our residents enjoy where they live and look forward to having a friendly new face helping to maintain their home.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This is a non-supervisory position.
Essential Job Functions: Assist the Maintenance Manager, including but not limited to the following: • Vacant unit turnover • Work orders • Respond to after-hours emergency work orders on a rotating basis with the Maintenance Manager • Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas, green space and parking lot • Unlock/Relock Loading dock door for scheduled tenant move in/out • Assist with various projects and upgrades to the building Facility Cleaning: • Occasional cleaning of the facility
Minimum Qualifications: • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have reliable transportation • Must reside within 30 minutes of Allen Terrace • High school diploma or GED • Ability to work well under minimal supervision • Ability to perform all tasks under the Physical Effort and Working Sections • Able to use a lawnmower and Bobcat with small loader • Maintenance experience desired Physical Effort and Working Conditions: This position requires the ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time, frequent bending, stooping, lifting and/or handling objects weighing up to 50 pounds (more with assistance) and climbing ladders. The employee occasionally works in awkward positions.
Compensation: Full-time position $22.00 per hour+ DOQ and Excellent Benefits such as: medical, dental, 401(a), life insurance, and more. Eligible for cell phone allowance.
Hours: 9am- 5:30pm. Tuesday -- Saturday, may be required to work outside of normal work hours
