Carleton College Assistant Director for Alumni and Parent Engagement in Northfield, Minnesota

Job Title: Assistant Director for Alumni and Parent Engagement Department: Career Center Classification: Exempt Grade: 12 FTE: 1.0 Position Overview: Aligned with the Career Center s four-year career development plan, the Assistant Director for Alumni and Parent Engagement recruits and manages a portfolio of alumni and parent volunteers to support the comprehensive career education needs of Carleton students and young alumni. Additionally, the Assistant Director develops and facilitates student programming focused on student-alumni networking and associated technology and supports the overall career education initiatives of the office. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: Volunteer Management (40%) Oversee the identification, ongoing engagement, and stewardship of a strategic alumni and parent volunteer force to support Career Center initiatives including but not limited to: externships, networking events, industry panels, interviewing programs, and more. Liaise with campus partners including alumni relations, faculty, and academic departments to create opportunities for alumni and parent career programming when appropriate. Collaborate with Career Center leadership and External Relations staff on alumni and parent leadership efforts (e.g., Carleton Careers Alumni Board, Parents Advisory Council). Design and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for alumni and parent volunteers. Regularly assess the effectiveness of alumni and parent engagement experiences and share outcomes of programs across college stakeholder groups. Oversee collection and reporting of data related to alumni and parent volunteer engagement in Career Center activities. Support the employer relations team as needed to engage with alumni and parent employer partners and report on these engagements. Program Management (40%) Manage the alumni and parent volunteer components of career development initiatives designed to model the range of career options, illustrate industries deeply, or prepare students with career skills important to their long-term success. Initiatives may include signature programs, workshops, networking events, and more. Support Career Coaching team to identify and engage alumni and parent volunteers who may add value to industry-focused career programs. Collaborate with External Relations partners on initiatives supporting the professional development of young alumni up to five years following graduation from Carleton. Student development (20%) Participate in the development and delivery of student programs designed to support student-alumni networking, including but not limited to LinkedIn (or similar emerging technology) and networking skills workshops. Serve as a liaison to one of the Career Center s affinity groups (e.g. First-Generation Students, International Students, Students with Disabilities, Students of Color, or Student Athletes) to support full access to career education and development opportunities for students at Carleton.
