Job Title: Systems Engineering Manager

Location: Northern MN; Onsite 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team in the design, development, integration, and certification of complex aircraft systems. The ideal candidate will manage a team of engineers and designers, oversee system development, and coordinate with external suppliers and subcontractors. This role will require collaboration across various engineering disciplines and active involvement in ensuring system performance and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Management:

  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers and designers.

  • Provide technical guidance, performance management, and coordinate staff onboarding and offboarding.

  • Facilitate team collaboration and development, ensuring alignment with project goals and company objectives.

  • System Design and Development:

  • Oversee the design and development of aircraft systems, including but not limited to Bleed Air, Oxygen, Environmental, Pressurization, and Ice Protection systems.

  • Ensure integration and certification of systems in accordance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FAR Part 23).

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Interface with structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure comprehensive system integration.

  • Collaborate with Advance Design & Development teams to incorporate new technologies into new product introductions.

  • Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination:

  • Identify and coordinate with component and system suppliers.

  • Manage relationships with subcontractors and external suppliers to ensure project success.

  • Testing and Validation:

  • Oversee on-aircraft and lab/bench testing of systems and components.

  • Validate system performance and support certification requirements.

  • Technical Oversight:

  • Review and approve 3D models, drawings, and engineering documents.

  • Approve heat transfer and fluid flow analyses and lead trade studies on weight, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Implement design for cost, manufacturability, and serviceability initiatives.

  • Define and execute systems engineering processes and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering.

  • Prefer experience in managing and leading engineering teams.
